I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive about purchasing this bed for my son after reading the other reviews. I am a single mom who is not very good at putting things together, but at this price, I couldn't resist attempting it, and I'm glad I did! I found the directions to be VERY easy to follow, I took my time and read each step and made sure I was doing everything exactly as directed. It took me about 4 hours, which I'm sure many people would consider to be too much time to spend on this kind of task, but keep in mind that I did it completely on my own, and I had already planned on spending a full day working on it and was very pleased that it didn't take quite that long! The bed is very sturdy - my 8 year old son and I can lay on it together without worrying that it's going to collapse - and I love how it looks in his room. The only complaint I have with it is that there were a couple times that the holes didn't line up just right (on the drawers only), and I read about other people having this issue too, however I was able to make it work without having to use power tools, so I'm sure anyone else could too. If you're thinking about purchasing this bed, I encourage you to do it. I love it, my son loves it, and as long as you keep in mind that you get what you pay for, I'm sure you will too!

I'm impressed with this bed. They were easy to put together, they look great and seem pretty sturdy. I was worried that the drawers would seem flimsy, but they are not. They are reinforced nicely and I trust that they could hold the weight of pretty much anything you would want to store in them. The slides for the drawers are plastic sliding across plastic, so the motion isn't as smooth as what you would have with metal guides and rollers. For this reason, I have decided to use them for things that I won't be trying to get at multiple times a day, however I am not worried about them breaking with use. The drawer pulls look cool, but they're metal and stick out at an angle with sharp edges, so I think I'm probably going to replace them with something more shin-friendly. I ordered 2 of these beds and another South Shore bed in a different finish that is basically the same design (Summer Breeze in Blueberry) and I have to say that the packaging for this bed is far superior to the other one. I had to return the other style of bed twice because it was broken both times I ordered it, so now I think I'll just order another one of these to avoid the hassle of another broken bed. Of course, Amazon was great about the returns and refunds. All in all, for this price, it's pretty much impossible to do better, especially when you take into account the free shipping and Amazon's awesome customer service.

We bought this bed for our 3 year old daughter, it is great because it sits lower to the ground for her to get on and off easily. The shipping was fast and there was no damage at all. I agree with other posters about the sharp drawer pulls, but I replaced them with pink rounded ones, I had to put 2 on each drawer because the holes are too close together for a standard pull, but it ended up giving it a cute look! overall I am happy with my purchase, the price was great and with free shipping you can't go wrong.

We bought this for our 19 month old son who outgrew his mini crib. It took some time to put together but it was very straight forward and everything was labeled so it made it very easy. The who thing is pretty much pressboard so you won't want to get it wet for any prolonged period of time but given the price it is really well worth the purchase. It feels very sturdy and even came with felt feet to keep it from scratching our hardwood floor. That is rare to find these days and I usually buy felt for funriture to protect our floors, so a nice and appreciated touch that they included it.
